Willa Cather Historical Site

**Our visit to Red Cloud, Webster County, Nebraska -- July 2000**
My brother, Gary, and I had an enjoyable 70m. trip southward, from Kearney to Red Cloud, to visit some of the Willa Cather historical sites. The trip itself seemed a fast one up and back as we took in the beautiful golden wheat fields and rolling green pasturelands along the way. Once in Red Cloud the local residents were friendly and helpful when approached on the street and in local businesses. After picture-taking and film-footage was obtained of Ms Cather's home, museum and local surroundings we ate lunch at 'The Palace' where we had the best and most economical steak dinners, not to mention the warm, hometown hospitality we received from the 'Palace' employees (they kept the grill going for us at 2pm!) I look forward to doing more research on the life and literature of Willa Cather.
